Homestay Spotlight: Tiffany

Tiffany came to us from Taiwan and was studying at the ELCI for about 8 months. Before that, she had been learning and studying English for years, but not with much success. She knew she wanted to learn English because it is “a world language, and you can use it wherever you go”. Before she came to ELCI, she was in Nursing school with two of her friends, and wanted to have an even greater advantage by learning English.

While here, Tiffany was happy to meet people from different countries, and make close friends. “I like that the ELCI is a small school, because everyone has good relationships with each other, it is like family” said Tiffany.  And, referring to ELCI’s English only rule she said “I like the English Only rule, it is hard, but helpful”.

But, the very best part of her stay in Oregon was her homestay family. “They treat me like part of the family,” she said, “even though they are busy they help me with my English, they cook for me, and drive me everywhere!”

“I have loved my time in America, and I would love to come back and visit” Tiffany Said, “maybe I can stay with my host family again” she said with a smile.
